Views and Sorting

Control what you see and how it’s organized in your GradeBook. Switch between different views to focus on specific information, and sort assignments and students in the order that works best for you.

Requirements

  • Valid License: ✅ Required
  • Must be GradeBook: ✅ Required
  • Premium: ❌ Not required

Accessing the Feature

  1. Open your GradeBook
  2. Click Extensions → GradeBook → Views and Sorting
  3. The Views and Sort sidebar will open

The Views and Sort Menu

Views

Choose which columns and rows to show or hide in your GradeBook:

View Option What It Shows
📄 Evaluations Shows assignment/evaluation columns
👥 Student Information Shows student contact and info columns
💬 Teacher Comments Shows the teacher comments column
🎯 Override Grades Shows the override grades column
🚫 Hide Empty Student Rows Hides rows where students have no grades entered
👤 Show Empty Student Rows Shows all student rows, even those with no grades
🚫 Hide Empty Evaluation Columns Hides assignment columns with no grades entered
📄 Show Empty Evaluation Columns Shows all assignment columns, even empty ones
👁️ Show All Shows all columns and rows
🙈 Hide All Hides most columns (shows minimal view)

Assignment Sorting

Choose how to sort assignment columns in your GradeBook:

Sort Option What It Does
📄 Title ↑ Sorts assignments alphabetically A→Z
📄 Title ↓ Sorts assignments alphabetically Z→A
📅 Date ↑ Sorts assignments by date, oldest first
📅 Date ↓ Sorts assignments by date, newest first

↑ means ascending (A→Z, oldest→newest) and ↓ means descending (Z→A, newest→oldest)

Student Sorting

Choose how to sort student rows in your GradeBook:

Sort Option What It Does
👤 Name ↑ Sorts students alphabetically A→Z
👤 Name ↓ Sorts students alphabetically Z→A
📊 Grade ↑ Sorts students by grade, lowest first
📊 Grade ↓ Sorts students by grade, highest first
🔢 Number ↑ Sorts students by student number, lowest first
🔢 Number ↓ Sorts students by student number, highest first

Category Sorting

If your GradeBook uses Category Weighting, you’ll see additional sorting options:

Sort Option What It Does
🏷️ Category ↑ then 📅 Date ↑ Groups by category A→Z, then by date oldest first
🏷️ Category ↑ then 📅 Date ↓ Groups by category A→Z, then by date newest first
🏷️ Category ↓ then 📄 Title ↑ Groups by category Z→A, then by title A→Z
🏷️ Category ↓ then 📄 Title ↓ Groups by category Z→A, then by title Z→A

Category Sorting only appears if your GradeBook uses Category Weighting.


Tips

  • Focus on what matters: Use “Hide Empty” options to reduce clutter when you have many assignments or students
  • Quick grading: Sort students by grade (lowest first) to quickly identify who needs extra help
  • Find recent work: Sort assignments by date (newest first) to see your latest evaluations first
